Woche 5: Galaxy reist in den Norden

Die 3:0-Nordic Storm steht vor einer deutlich größeren Herausforderung als Frankfurt Galaxy. Das Team aus Kopenhagen wirkt makellos – mehr als 39 Punkte pro Spiel erzielt, weniger als 16 zugelassen. Brendan Beaulieu führt die Liga in Receiving Yards und Touchdowns an, Glen Toonga ist der Rushing-Leader und Jadrian Clark ist der erste EFA-Quarterback der Saison mit 1000 Passing Yards.

Der Grund – die gefährlichste Offensive Line der Liga. Noch kein Team hat eine Antwort auf das Screen-Game der Nordic Storm gefunden, Toonga bekommt die Blocks, die er braucht, und Jadrian Clark wurde in den ersten vier Saisonwochen kein einziges Mal gesackt.

Dennoch hat Frankfurt Galaxy die Mittel zur Aufdeckung der Schwachstellen der Nordic-Storm-Offense. Tony Caljeans 3-4-Defense ist eine gute Antwort auf das Screen-Game. Die Galaxy-Linebacker werden Disziplin beim Blitz und Aufmerksamkeit gegenüber der Play-Action benötigen.

Die Defensive Line der Frankfurt Galaxy erzeugt viel Druck auf gegnerische Quarterbacks. In den ersten beiden Saisonspielen fanden Zach Edwards und Russell Tabor mit ihren Scrambles noch einen Ausweg. Als die Galaxy mit Steven Krajewski auf einen Pocket Passer traf, erzielte die Raiders-Tirol-Offense nur 3 Punkte und erreichte die Red Zone kein einziges Mal. Jadrían Clarks Laufstärke ist nicht sein größtes Kapital – Woche-4-MVP Chris Mulumba könnte ihm dabei große Probleme bereiten.

Die Verbindung zwischen Ethan Garbers und Brevin Easton ist die treibende Kraft der Galaxy-Offense. Die Nordic-Storm-Defense wird versuchen, den Galaxy-Receiving-Leader auszuschalten. Das öffnet das Feld für Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt, Adrià Botella Moreno und Normen Schumm. Sie haben sich das Vertrauen von Ethan Garbers bereits erarbeitet und in den vergangenen Spielen große Plays gezeigt.

Die Ballbesitzzeit ist eine weitere Stärke der Frankfurter Offense. In den ersten drei Spielen hatte die Galaxy länger den Ball als ihre Gegner. Im Duell gegen Jadrian Clark könnte sie zum Mittel werden, die Nordic-Offense in ihrer Entfaltung zu begrenzen.

Keine Fehler und eine saubere Leistung auf den Special Teams – das bleibt der Schlüssel für den zweiten Auswärtssieg der Galaxy. Nordic Storm ist das Team, das ins Rollen kommen kann, sobald es Schwäche wittert. Ein geblockter PAT, ein verfehltes Field Goal, ein kurzer Punt – all diese Fehler können Nordic Storm den Antrieb geben, den sie für weitere Punkte brauchen.

Week 5: Galaxy travels to the North

The 3-0 Nordic Storm faces the much bigger test than Frankfurt Galaxy on Sunday. Team from Copenhagen looks flawless. They scored more than 39 points each game and conceded less than 16. Brendan Beaulieu has the most receiving yards and touchdowns, Glen Toonga is the rushing leader and Jadrian Clark is the first EFA quarterback to reach 1000 passing yards this season.

The reason – the most lethal offensive line in the league. No team has found the answer for Nordic Storm screen plays yet, Toonga gets the blocks he needs and Jadrian Clark was sacked zero times in the first four weeks of the season.

Still Frankfurt Galaxy can expose the problems of the Nordic Storm offense. Tony Caljean’s 3-4 defense is a good match against the screen game. Galaxy linebackers will need to be disciplined with the blitz and aware of the play action.

Frankfurt‘s defensive line brings a lot of pressure on opposing quarterbacks. In the first two games of the season Zach Edwards and Russell Tabor were able to find a way out of it with their scrambles. Once Galaxy played a pocket passer in Steven Krajewski, the Raiders Tirol offense scored only 3 points and never reached the red zone. Jadrian Clark’s legs are not his biggest strength, and week 4 MVP Chris Mulumba might create a lot of problems for him.

The connection between Ethan Garbers and Brevin Easton is the driving force of the Galaxy offense. The Nordic Storm defense will try to shut down the Galaxy receiving leader. This opens the field for Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt, Adrià Botella Moreno and Normen Schumm. They have already earned the trust of Ethan Garbers and had big plays in previous games.

Possession time is another strength of the Frankfurt offense. In the first three games Galaxy had the ball more than their opponents. In a game against Jadrian Clark it can become the recipe to limit the Nordic offense.

No mistakes and a clean game on special teams are still the key for Galaxy to grab the second win on the road. Nordic Storm is the team that can start to snowball the moment it smells blood. A blocked PAT, a missed field goal, a short punt – all these mistakes can give Nordic Storm the drive they need to put points on the board.
