Dominante Defense, erfolgreiche Wege der Offense

Mit einer überzeugenden Performance gegen die Raiders Tirol sicherte sich Frankfurt Galaxy am 4. Spieltag den ersten Saisonsieg.

Trotz ihres 0:2-Starts hatten die Raiders Tirol in ihren ersten beiden Spielen eine solide offensive Produktion gezeigt. Für das österreichische Team bedeutete der Saisonauftakt mit zwei Auswärtsspielen gegen die Spitzenteams Nordic Storm und Munich Ravens wohl das schwierigste Anfangsprogramm der Liga. Dennoch gelangen den Raiders Tirol 30 Punkte in München und 16 Punkte in Kopenhagen – die bislang höchste Punkteausbeute eines Gegners gegen beide ungeschlagenen Teams.

Vor dem 4. Spieltag galten die Verbindung zwischen Quarterback Steven Krajewski und Wide Receiver Aaron Jackson sowie die stabile Pass Protection als größte Stärken der Raiders-Tirol-Offense. Lediglich zwei Sacks gegen Krajewski in den ersten beiden Saisonspielen ermöglichten ausreichend Zeit in der Pocket für tiefe Routen von Aaron Jackson.

Am 4. Spieltag folgte die bislang beste Defensivleistung der Galaxy-Saison: nur 180 zugelassene Total Yards, zwei erzwungene Turnover und ein Safety. Steven Krajewski wurde sechsmal gesackt, während Aaron Jackson auf lediglich zwei Receptions für 55 Yards begrenzt wurde. Für die Raiders Tirol standen am Ende nur ein Field Goal und kein einziger Besuch der Galaxy Red Zone zu Buche.

Auch die Offense der Frankfurt Galaxy zeigte eine gute, wenn auch nicht die sauberste Leistung. Das Resultat waren 13 First Downs und 243 Total Yards, dazu ein verlorener Fumble sowie beinahe ein weiterer Ballverlust, bevor Ethan Garbers das Ei sichern konnte. Dennoch fand die Offense Wege zum Punkten, darunter eine Variante des „Philly Special“, bei der Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt bei einem Trick Play einen Touchdown-Pass auf Ethan Garbers warf. Frankfurt bleibt weiterhin ein stark passorientiertes Team. Die Herstellung einer besseren Balance durch eine stärkere Einbindung des Laufspiels könnte der Schlüssel zur Entwicklung einer guten zu einer gefährlichen Offense sein.

Am 5. Spieltag Frankfurt Galaxy führt nach Kopenhagen zum Duell mit den ungeschlagenen Nordic Storm. Mit einer Wiederholung der Defensivleistung aus Woche 4 besitzt Galaxy alle Chancen, mit der Offense der Nordic Storm mitzuhalten.

Defense dominates, offense finds ways

Frankfurt Galaxy secured its first win of the season in Week 4 with a convincing victory over the Raiders Tirol.

Despite their 0–2 start, the Raiders Tirol had shown solid offensive production in their first two games. The Austrian team faced arguably the toughest opening schedule in the league, playing back-to-back away games against the powerhouses Nordic Storm and Munich Ravens. Raiders Tirol managed to score 30 points in Munich and 16 in Copenhagen – the most points conceded so far by both undefeated teams.

Entering Week 4, the greatest strengths of the Raiders Tirol offense were the connection between quarterback Steven Krajewski and wide receiver Aaron Jackson, as well as solid pass protection. Krajewski had been sacked only twice in the first two games of the season and had enough time in the pocket for Aaron Jackson to run deep routes.

This week, the Galaxy defense delivered its best performance of the year, allowing only 180 total yards, forcing two turnovers, and recording a safety. Steven Krajewski was sacked six times, while Aaron Jackson had only two receptions for 55 yards. The Raiders Tirol scored just one field goal and never reached the Galaxy red zone.

The Frankfurt Galaxy offense had a good game, but not the smoothest one. The offensive unit recorded 13 first downs and 243 total yards, lost a fumble, and nearly lost another before Ethan Garbers recovered it. Still, Galaxy found ways to score, including a variation of the “Philly Special,” when Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt threw a touchdown pass to Ethan Garbers on a trick play. Frankfurt remains a heavily passing team. Finding a way to balance the offense with more run plays is the key to making a deadly offense out of a good one.

In Week 5, Frankfurt Galaxy travels to Copenhagen to meet the unbeaten Nordic Storm. With the defense that we saw in Week 4, Galaxy has every chance to match the Nordic Storm offense.
