Frankfurt Galaxy sichert sich das EFA BIG4

Mit dem vierten Saisonsieg in Prag hat sich Frankfurt Galaxy den dritten Platz gesichert und trifft im ersten Halbfinale der EFA-Premierensaison auf die zweitplatzierten Munich Ravens.

Das Duell steigt am Samstag, den 15. August, um 18 Uhr MEST in der BBBank Arena in Frankfurt. Es ist das dritte Aufeinandertreffen der beiden Teams in dieser Saison und die Partie entscheidet über den Einzug in das erste EFA Championship Game in Innsbruck.

Das German Derby: Heimvorteil gegen das beste Laufspiel der Liga

Mit der Qualifikation für das BIG4 ist Frankfurt das einzige Team mit Heimvorteil. Gegen die mit 9:1 in die Playoffs gehenden Munich Ravens könnte genau das zum entscheidenden Faktor werden.

In der Regular Season trafen beide Teams zweimal aufeinander. Zwar setzte sich München jeweils souverän durch, doch das Spiel in Woche 3 in Frankfurt war für die Ravens deutlich schwerer als das Ergebnis vermuten lässt: Russell Tabor warf lediglich 160 Yards, blieb ohne Touchdown und leistete sich eine Interception. Im zweiten, dritten und vierten Viertel betrug der Vorsprung der Munich Ravens nur fünf Punkte. Den Ausschlag gaben 14 unbeantwortete Punkte im ersten Viertel sowie ein Kickoff-Return-Touchdown von Bijon Harris.

Einen schwachen Start kann sich Frankfurt in einem Playoff-Spiel gegen ein Team dieses Kalibers nicht erlauben. Die Galaxy kann dabei auf dem letzten Spiel der Regular Season aufbauen: Ein Kickoff-Return-Touchdown von Ahsan Moore lieferte den Energieschub, der die Kontrolle über das Spiel und schließlich den Sieg ermöglichte.

Mit Zach Calzada, der seinen Rhythmus gefunden hat, Ryan Rimmler und seinem 62-Yard-Field-Goal sowie Ahsan Moore und dem ersten Special-Teams-Touchdown des Jahres präsentiert sich Frankfurt vor den Playoffs in seiner besten Verfassung der gesamten Saison. Frankfurt Galaxy clinches the EFA BIG4

With their fourth win of the season in Prague, Frankfurt Galaxy have secured third place and will face the second-seeded Munich Ravens in the first semifinal of the EFA’s inaugural season.

The matchup takes place on Saturday, August 15, at 6:00 p.m. CEST at the BBBank Arena in Frankfurt. It is the third meeting between the two teams this season – and the game decides who advances to the first-ever EFA Championship Game in Innsbruck.

The German Derby: home-field advantage against the league’s best run game

By qualifying for the BIG4, Frankfurt is the only team playing at home. Against a Munich Ravens side entering the playoffs at 9-1, that could prove to be the decisive factor.

The two teams met twice during the regular season. Munich won both games convincingly, but the Week 3 matchup in Frankfurt was far tougher for the Ravens than the scoreline suggests: Russell Tabor threw for just 160 yards with no touchdowns and one interception. Through the second, third and fourth quarters, Munich’s lead was only five points. The difference came from 14 unanswered points in the first quarter and a kickoff return touchdown by Bijon Harris.

In a playoff game against a team of this caliber, Frankfurt cannot afford a slow start. The Galaxy can build on their final regular-season game: a kickoff return touchdown by Ahsan Moore delivered the spark that gave Frankfurt control of the game and ultimately the win.

With Zach Calzada finding his rhythm, Ryan Rimmler converting a 61-yard field goal and Ahsan Moore scoring Frankfurt’s first special teams touchdown of the year, the Galaxy head into the playoffs in their best form of the entire season. One question remains: how will the Frankfurt defense stop the Munich run game? With Russell Tabor, Justus Seelig, Benedikt Pohler and Justin Rodney, the Ravens field the best rushing attack of 2026, averaging 154.6 yards per game.

The playoffs of the EFA’s inaugural season take place at the BBBank Arena in Frankfurt: four teams, two games, one weekend. The EFA has put together a special program for fans on August 15 and 16.
